Yesterday, while handling a production issue, I found that a missing configuration from an earlier iteration had made a project-level function unavailable. The whole process left me with a clear lesson: it is not enough just to do the work. You also have to do it right.
The Fix

At first I only found the surface-level problem. Once the immediate cause was clear, the quickest fix was to add back the missing function so the failing code could run again.

But that function belonged to a project-level resource, which meant other important logic might depend on it too. So the correct fix was not a local patch. The right move was to restore the project-level function itself.
Option 3
Restoring the project-level function would solve the current issue, but I still needed to check whether anything else related had gone missing. After looking further, I found that besides the first function, two other project-level configurations had also been lost. In the end, I confirmed that the impact was limited to the project-level function module, and based on that I was able to make a more complete repair plan.
Final Thought
When you solve a problem, the first idea is often the most direct and the fastest, but not necessarily the best. It is worth developing the habit of thinking a little deeper and trying to reach a better solution on the first serious attempt.
That does not mean forcing a perfect answer every time. When time is tight, the priority should be the most effective action in the moment, so you can verify the result quickly.
Comparing different solutions always teaches you something. As long as the limitation does not come from laziness, temporary gaps in your thinking are acceptable. Each shortcoming becomes experience, and that experience makes the next problem easier to handle.
